As Job is in the field, a servant runs up to him telling him that his oxen and donkey has been raided by bandits, killing all of his servants except him. As that one servant finished his tale another servant appears. He tells of a fire that came down from heaven consumed all of his sheep, and only he escaped the fire. As that servant finished his tale another servant appears and tells him that his house collapsed, killing his sons and daughters, and all his servants except him. Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head and fell on the ground and worshiped. And he said, “Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”
